Charter Costs Explained
How Much Does a Private Yacht Charter Cost?
The cost of a private yacht charter depends on the vessel, destination, season, duration and services included.
Most private charter rates are quoted for the yacht rather than per guest. Two yachts with similar cabin capacities may have different prices because of their size, equipment, crew arrangements and operating costs.
Before comparing quotes, it is important to understand what is included and what may cost extra.
What Should You Budget For?
- Charter fee: The quoted cost of hiring the yacht for your selected period, subject to the inclusions specified for that vessel.
- Crew: Crew arrangements vary by yacht. Check whether the captain, chef and additional crew are included in your quotation.
- Food and drinks: Some yachts include meals, while others use catering packages, separate provisioning charges or an Advance Provisioning Allowance.
- Fuel and marina charges: Depending on the vessel and itinerary, fuel, berthing and marina expenses may be charged separately.
- Taxes and additional services: Applicable taxes, transfers, shore activities and discretionary gratuities may affect the final cost.
A lower advertised weekly rate does not always mean a lower total charter cost. Compare the complete inclusions and estimated extras before making your decision.
