Mediterranean Gulet Charter: Where to Go, What It Costs and What's Included
A Mediterranean gulet charter is a private week on a crewed wooden yacht, and most of the boats are in Turkey: 197 of the 289 gulets YachtCloud lists [1]. A typical week costs €10,500 to 22,510 for the whole boat, before VAT and any APA [2]. Food is rarely in that rate.
Who this is for: anyone starting to plan a gulet week in the Mediterranean. Each section answers one question briefly and points to the YachtCloud guide that covers it in full. If gulets are new to you, read what a gulet charter is and who it suits first.

What is a Mediterranean gulet charter?
A gulet charter is a private week on a traditional wooden motor-sailing yacht, with a crew who sail it, cook and look after the boat. You book the whole boat, not a cabin. On YachtCloud the median gulet is 29 metres long and takes 12 guests in 6 cabins; 224 listings state a crew, with a median of 4 [1].

Where can you charter a gulet in the Mediterranean?
Turkey has about two in three of the gulets YachtCloud lists, Croatia most of the rest, and Greece and Italy fewer than 25 each [1]. The table quotes each country's typical week and season from YachtCloud's own pages, with the guide to read next.

What does a Mediterranean gulet charter cost?
A typical week costs €10,500 to 22,510 for the whole boat, from €4,200, across the 285 gulets YachtCloud can price [2]. That is €933 to 1,917 a person with every berth taken. The cost guide says peak-season weeks run about 35 percent higher, and VAT and any APA come on top.
VAT and the APA differ by country and by boat, so two weekly fees can lead to very different totals. For VAT and APA by country and four real weeks costed for 8 and 12 guests, read gulet charter prices from 287 real listings. The linked guides quote their own check dates, so their counts can differ slightly from this page's.

Is a gulet charter all-inclusive?
Rarely. Only 3 of the 289 gulet listings say the weekly rate covers guests' meals [1]. Kaptan Sevket and Sadri Usta 1, both in Montenegro, include daily meals, and Hera in Greece includes breakfast and lunch [5]. Every other listing charges for food another way.
How the 289 gulet listings handle guests' food
| Meal model | Listings | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Meals in the weekly rate | 3 | Food is part of the fee |
| Per-guest meal price | 24 | A fixed price per guest per week; 2 also show an APA |
| APA in the estimate | 109 | An advance spent on running costs and reconciled at the end |
| Neither a price nor an APA | 153 | Food is priced in the quotation |

Fuel is similar. 108 listings include fuel for a set number of cruising hours a day, usually three or four, and 93 of them are in Turkey [1]. For how meals, fuel and port fees work on each pricing model, see the prices guide and YachtCloud's gulet cost guide.

A four-step plan for a Mediterranean gulet week
This is our own route through YachtCloud's guides, not an industry standard. Each step narrows the next.
Decide whether a gulet suits your group. Private boat, crew, slow days at anchor; up to 12 guests on most boats.
Choose the country. Group size, dates and wind rule some out; the four-country guide sets them side by side.
Price the week on the same terms. Fee plus VAT, then food, then fuel, for your dates.
Enquire with dates and group size. The owner or operator confirms availability and the final price [7].
Mistakes to avoid
Assuming food is included. Only 3 of 289 listings put guests' meals in the weekly rate.
Treating the typical band as your price. It is built on each listing's starting fee; peak weeks cost more.
Picking the country last. Greece and Italy have 23 and 13 gulets, so choice narrows early.
Comparing estimates that include different things. One adds an APA, another leaves food to the quotation.
Is a gulet, and YachtCloud, the right fit?
A gulet suits groups who want a private boat with crew and a slow week between anchorages. If you want a shared cabin cruise, a bareboat yacht you skipper yourself, or a fixed all-inclusive price, few listings here will match.
YachtCloud suits groups who want to compare private crewed gulets on published specifications and starting rates, then request yacht-specific pricing. It acts as a charter intermediary: the owner or operator confirms availability and the final price, and booking runs through a hold and a signed agreement [7].

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we charter a gulet by the cabin instead of the whole boat?
YachtCloud's listings are private charters of the whole boat. Its cost guide notes that per-cabin Blue Cruise departures also exist in Turkey and are priced differently [2]. On a cabin cruise you share the boat and the route with other guests.
How far ahead should we book for July or August?
Is the crew tip included in the weekly rate?
Sources and methodology
Fleet figures come from a first-party count: every yacht page linked from YachtCloud's Yacht Finder (498 pages, taken from href links only) was read on 4 November 2026 between 13:39 and 13:41 UTC. 289 are gulets, and each country's total matches its gulet or country page; no canonical URL appears twice. Three gulets listed that morning had gone. Base splits in the table are quoted from the gulet pages; our own count reads Fethiye 40 and Göcek 21, because two listings the Turkey page files under Fethiye give Göcek as their base. Guest counts are each listing's stated maximum, and a crew is counted only where the listing states one. Each listing is given one meal model: meals in the rate (the listing says the weekly rate covers guests' meals), a per-guest meal price, an APA in the estimate, or neither a price nor an APA. Two listings publish a meal price and an APA and count under the meal price; a captain's dinner or crew food does not count as guests' meals. Meal and fuel wording was matched with tolerant patterns and every match was read by hand. These are published listing terms, not contracts, and the count cannot tell whether a listing is bookable for your dates. Typical rates are quoted from YachtCloud's pages, not recomputed.
